Knitting for Better Mental Well-being
The McCarthy Tétrault Knitting Club is one initiative that we are proud to highlight as one of our activities that contributes to a mentally healthy workplace. Skilled knitters from across the firm spend their lunch hours teaching beginners how to knit – at first, with modest ambitions to provide donations to local charities, however the group gained momentum quickly as word spread about the fun, laughter and support at these lunchtime sessions. Membership grew nationwide and in 2017, the group had dedicated over 650 hours of their personal time to this effort. The knitted items were distributed to various charitable organizations during the holiday season. In addition $1,000 was donated to five of these organizations through the McCarthy Tétrault Volunteer Award program to further support these organizations’ good work. We are proud to recognize this group’s contributions to a happier and more mentally healthy workplace.
