Special Announcement: Mobilizing civic leaders on new youth employment, mentorship and entrepreneurship opportunities

Dear Friends:

The Ministry of Children and Youth Services has engaged the Greater Toronto CivicAction Alliance (CivicAction) to align employers, labour representatives, community leaders, youth and governments in the greater Toronto and Hamilton areas and increase job mentorship and entrepreneurship opportunities for youth who face multiple barriers to employment.

By focusing attention on the issue with a coalition of regional leaders, CivicAction will develop an approach to:

  • Create more job and mentorship opportunities to help youth ,
  • Align the private sector on high impact and sustainable interventions and
  • Provide recommendations on employment and mentorship strategies to the Ministry of Children and Youth Services in support of the Youth Action Plan.

Once developed, the approach could be expanded to help youth across the province.

The initiative will find practical ways to engage the private sector to ensure youth at risk have access to positive and meaningful experiences that changes the trajectory of their lives.

We need better coordination and alignment across companies, government, unions and organizations to ensure youth in our region have every chance to succeed and reach their full potential.

We look forward to your support and leadership in helping our region’s youth succeed.
