Social Entrepreneurship: Canada’s First Social Entrepreneurship Summit

Together with The Boston Consulting Group, the Centre for Social Innovation and MaRS, the Toronto City Summit Alliance hosted Canada’s first Social Entrepreneurship Summit in December 2007. Focused on raising awareness and building the community and momentum around social entrepreneurship in Canada, the Summit featured speakers, panels and table discussions exploring how to enable greater social entrepreneurship. The Summit brought together over 250 participants from across Canada, representing all sectors of the economy, to celebrate and support social entrepreneurship, and included the awarding of the Schwab Foundation’s first Canadian Social Entrepreneur of the Year award to Geoff Cape of Evergreen.
