For 10 extraordinary days each June, Toronto’s stages, streets and public spaces are illuminated with arts and creativity. Luminato is an annual multi-disciplinary celebration of theatre, dance, music, literature, food, visual arts, fashion, film and more.
Luminato was co-founded by the late David Pecaut, the Alliance’s Founding Chair, and Tony Gagliano, Executive Chairman and CEO of St. Joseph Media, to capitalize on Toronto’s growing cultural and tourism assets. Since premiering in June 2007, Luminato has attracted over one million local and international tourists each year to its diverse mix of events, most of them free, and is already one of the world’s top three multidisciplinary festivals. Luminato continues to raise international awareness of Toronto’s arts and culture scene, create a heightened sense of pride in our city, support regional festivals and provide a unique forum for artists and arts organizations to collaborate internationally and across artistic disciplines.
