PEEL—Growing up in Central America, Peel Region strategic planning supervisor Federico Cartin-Arteaga was exposed to poverty early in life.
That experience inspired him to become what he calls “an agent of change” and since elementary school has dedicated a lot of energy to assisting those less fortunate.
Today, Cartin-Arteaga is helping to foster change at the municipal level and was most recently involved with the crafting of a 10-year strategy to fight poverty and homelessness in Peel Region.
Cartin-Arteaga’s background and passion for social issues has landed him entry into CivicAction’s DiverseCity Fellows initiative, a one-year program that aims to nurture future community leaders.
