Already a major contributor in the city that has been her home for the past decade, Irene Quarcoo is set to expand her capabilities through one of North America’s top programs for rising leaders who are interested in urban issues and impacting change.

As a 2015-16 DiverseCity Fellowship cohort, she is among 27 emerging leaders poised to take action on issues critical to the health and prosperity of the city.

Now in its seventh year, this free year-long program exposes participants to important regional issues, provides opportunities for personal leadership development and helps them grow a strong network of civic-minded peers across sectors. It also provides access to the region’s top influencers and a unique platform for community-focused action.

The program comprises four integrated streams of activities – interactive learning sessions, network connections, a mentoring relationship and city-building projects.

“It’s a real honour to be part of this program and I am really excited,” said Quarcoo, who is a senior marketing officer with the provincial cabinet office. “I am looking forward to working with a great group of inspirational young leaders and I am more interested in seeing how I can grow as a leader and what I can actually do for this city. I am a great believer in building communities by equipping people to effect true change.” – See more at: http://sharenews.com/diversecity-fellows-eager-to-effect-change/#sthash.un4yN90y.dpuf
