CivicAction Bootcamp: Q&A with CAMH’s Dr. Ash Bender

Every four years, CivicAction holds a summit to discuss the biggest issues facing the Greater Toronto and Hamilton area. This year, it’s called the Better City Bootcamp.

A wide range of voices and experiences will be on hand at the April 28 event, discussing some of the main challenges in improving the health and prosperity of the region.

The Star spoke with panelists representing five major themes to learn more. Here’s the first of a five-part series.

What do you see being the biggest challenge facing the GTHA over the next decade?

I think the biggest issue is population growth and the demand that’s really going to place on all of our services here. We really pride ourselves on being a civil, wonderful place to live — but do we have health resources and community resources to really help people thrive?
