Driving change in workplace conversations about mental health and in approaches to provide support for employees

At ArcelorMittal Dofasco, we have been driving change in our workplace conversations about mental health and in our approach to support for employees who are experiencing challenges. Using the Not Myself Today awareness campaign we have set up pop-up displays at various company locations, weekly mental health digital display content as well as Not Myself Today Training and Awareness at Health and Safety Days, reaching a significant number of our 5,000 employees every year. About a third of our employees have also signed their commitment to mental health and chose a Not Myself Today Mood Button at our 2015 and 2017 Health and Safety Fairs. We think employees are feeling more comfortable speaking about how mental health affects them and their family members which helps to reduce stigma and build a psychologically safe workplace.
